March Sewing Challenge for April Reveal!

Don't forget about our Monthly Challenge for April's meeting -- since we've now spent a year under Covid restrictions, and so have been unable to take our dream vacations, your assignment is to make something that you *would* have worn on vacation, had you taken one!

It doesn't matter what kind of vacation it might be, it's just YOUR dream that matters!

Be ready to explain where you would have gone and why 🙂

January 2021! A New Year for the SGG

Delighted to announce our first speaker of 2021! The Stratford Garment Guild & the Ottawa Garment Guild are partnering up to host Marcy Harriell for a presentation on "Sewing With Joy!"

Fans of Marcy's blog Oonaballoona.com know that she's a high energy, colour & print loving sewist with great stories to share. As a professional actor & singer, she's also entertaining as heck! We hope you can join us for this January event to start the year off right.

Note the date change: this special event is not on our regular meeting date. It is on Thursday January 21, 2021 at 7 pm via Zoom.

December 2020: Our Holiday Social!

Our next meeting on Tuesday December 8, 7 pm via Zoom is a relaxed Holiday Social for SGG members -- plus anyone who just wants to check out the Guild and see what we're like! We'll be gathering to socialize and chat about our sewing...maybe even have a couple of party games...

Everyone is welcome: if you have a friend who'd like to visit us, all are welcome to attend. If you're not a paid up member yet, come to this meeting to see how we do things, and decide if $15 for 6 more meetings in the first half of 2021 is a good deal!

Don't forget to bring any Sew & Tell to share -- and relax with your fave beverage & snack while you're at it -- recipes welcome

To be sure to get the Zoom link when it's ready, join our Facebook page -- paid up members will also get an email with the link to remind them.

Hope to see you all there!

November Sewing Challenge for January Reveal

Photo by Laura Chouette on Unsplash

After our November meeting with Her Honour Elizabeth Dowdeswell we were all impressed with the quality of her fabric choices and complex pattern selection.

And so we set a challenge to SGG members to make something worthy of a Lieutenant Governor's wardrobe -- with a show & tell date of January to give us time to make something elaborate
So if you have a jacket or a coat or a suit you'd like to try out, make it for our January meeting and be ready to show off your amazing work!

As always the parameters are fairly open -- make something that you feel represents the more formal style, or work wear, needed in a position like the Lieutenant Governor's, maybe inspired by her go-to of a neutral dress with an eye-catching structured jacket or drapier kimono-style topper. Make what you like and tell us why you chose it.
